Sharing the love (for slow fashion) ... at Kangarilla

The team at Da Loop managed to escape the office last Sunday, taking our wares to the fabulous Kangarilla Community Day. This small but vibrant market reminded us of many a country fair attended in our childhoods: think fairy floss, classic cars, jumping castles, home-made goodies, plant stalls and bargains galore.

Not only did we get plenty of fresh, country air, we met a bunch of fresh faces as well - people who shared our ethos and passion for stepping lightly by buying recycled fashion. We had many affable conversations with likeminded locals, including the lovely Nic, pictured at left, whose own stall, Mystic Moon Crystals and Gifts, was right alongside ours.

One gorgeous mum told us she never buys any new clothing for her two daughters. They just grow out of it too quickly. She buys all secondhand, and then when it no longer fits, she passes it on to family and friends. Who knows how many lives some of those pieces end up having!

Another visitor to our stall told us she prefers to buy her clothes secondhand because she always finds something unique. Yes! This lady is on Da Loop's wavelength. We try to stock beautiful, different and special items - along with some more day-to-day items that you always seem to need. (Check them all out here.)

There were many vintage-admirers among the crowd, and we sold several pieces. We were also able to do a bit of vintage-admiring ourselves when the Noarlunga Volunteer Rifles Unit re-enacted an historical skirmish drill. Check out their fabulous uniforms!

We might just find ourselves out and about at another country market or fair soon, chatting to new friends and customers, catching some sunshine - and stocking up on lots of home-made goodies of course!
